“Act, Don’t Sympathize!” Tinubu Sends Strong Message to Gov. Alia and Security Chief Over Benue State Crisis
In a bold and emotionally charged address, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued a stern directive to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia and Nigeria’s Service Chiefs, demanding urgent action on both health emergencies and security failures across the country.
During a recent closed-door meeting, President Tinubu urged Governor Alia to use his influence and platform to mobilize voluntary blood donations in the face of increasing medical emergencies:
> “Governor, please announce in the broadcast for people to donate more blood voluntarily to the hospitals.”
But his tone quickly turned tough when addressing the rising insecurity in Benue and other states. Visibly frustrated, Tinubu criticized the lack of accountability:
> “How come no arrests have been made?… I expect there should be arrests of those criminals. Let’s get those criminals, let’s get them out.”
The President didn’t hold back, calling on the governor to live up to the progressive mandate under which he was elected.
> “You are elected under the progressive banner. You are not elected to bury people, create orphans and orphanages, or sympathise with widows.”
This public rebuke highlights Tinubu’s growing impatience with government inaction and the failure to protect lives. As insecurity continues to plague several parts of the nation, the President’s message is clear: lead with action, not condolences.
